Rakow Fitness Center

665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville, IL 60110

The Rakow Fitness Center offers something Rakow Centerfor everyone. At the Rakow Fitness Center you will find a variety of group exercise classes, state of the art equipment, friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you meet your fitness goals and people like you working towards a healthy lifestyle at a facility that is close to home.

Amenities include a 2,200 square foot fitness center with a wide variety of weight resistance and cardiovascular equipment including: Treadmills, Ellipticals, Upright Bikes, Recumbent Bikes, Steppers, Rower, Airdyne Bikes, Cybex VR3 Equipment, 2,000 lbs. Free Weights. We also offer group exercise classes, personal training, nutrition services and KidZone. Plus, enjoy our sauna, whirlpool, racquetball courts, pickleball open gym and indoor pool too!

The Indoor Pool, Sauna and Whirlpool will be closed August 8-September 5 for annual maintenance and renovations.

Walking Track

Did you know our walking track is free to use? One mile is equivalent to 14 laps around the track. Anyone 12 years of age and older may use the track. Children ages 6-11 must be accompanied by an adult. Children five years and younger may not be on the track. No street shoes or strollers allowed.

Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 am-4:45 pm

Randall Oaks Fitness Center

Amenities include a 5,500 square foot fitness center with state of the art equipment which include: Ellipticals, Treadmills, AMTs, Arc Trainers, Step Mills, Steppers, Bikes, Expresso Bikes, Recumbent Stepper, Cycle Ergometer. We also have free weights, full resistance line, plate loaded equipment and Olympic benches. Plus enjoy group exercise classes, walking or running on the elevated track and kids will enjoy spending time at our KidZone while you work out.

Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 am-6:00 pm

Parent & Tot Stroller Walk

The gym is reserved during this hour for parents who would like to exercise by walking and pushing a stroller.

Days/Hours: Tuesdays & Wednesdays • 9:00–10:00 am
Dates: September 6-April 26
Location: Randall Oaks Recreation Center Gym

Parent & Tot Stroller Walk Guidelines

  • Stroller wheels must be clean and dry.
  • Gym shoes only may be worn. They must be clean and dry.
  • Strollers must stay off the basketball courts; they should stay outside the cones.
  • Child must be in the stroller and accompanied by a parent.
  • A sibling can walk alongside the stroller but must remain with a parent at all times.
  • Children may not be left unattended at any time.
  • No free gym play or gym usage is permitted during this time.
  • Only parents with strollers are permitted at this time, all others must use the track.
  • No strollers are permitted in the gym outside of the scheduled hours.
  • No snacks or drinks permitted – only water is allowed.

New Policies - Effective February 1, 2015

The Park District will be enforcing two new policies starting February 1, 2015. 

Policy #1 – 17 years and Younger Waiver Policy:
Any person, 17 years old and under that is not a member, must have a parent signed waiver on file with the Park District prior to utilizing non-scheduled open gym or the fitness centers. This is a requirement from our Risk Management agency, PDRMA. The parent-signed waiver will be good for 1 year. 
Example:  A high school student fitness member (without a parent) wants to bring a friend that is 17 years old to exercise with him/her; the friend can only exercise with member if we have a parent-signed waiver on file. 
Example:  A 13 year old member wants to bring his/her 13 year old friend. The friend has to have a parent-signed waiver on file.  The member’s parent can’t sign the waiver for the child’s friend.  

Policy #2 – Unattended Children in Rakow Center or Randall Oaks Recreation Center:
Any child under 12 years old cannot be unattended in our facilities. The 12-13 year old fitness members require a parent or someone over 18 years old to be with them while exercising. An adult member can NOT pay for their children to be in the gym while they exercise in the fitness centers. 


Fee-based Programming

At the Fitness Centers we offer a variety of fee-based fitness programs to enhance your weekly fitness routine. Programs include Parent & Child Pilates, Tai Chi, Belly Dancing and many more.
